Orlando
As a family holiday destination, few places in the world can compete with Orlando thanks to it’s amazing theme parks and focus on fun.
Whether you’re travelling with toddlers who dream of meeting fairy tale characters, adventure-seeking youngsters or hard-to-impress teenagers, Orlando has something for all the family – even the young at heart!
Most of Orlando’s attractions and accommodation are in the International Drive area, which is home to hotels, restaurants and shops as well as SeaWorld and Universal Orlando Resort.
The Walt Disney World Resort is located at Lake Buena Vista, while Kissimmee, which is 20 miles south of the downtown area, has great value accommodation. Whilst buses and the I-Ride Trolley run between the main areas and attractions, the best option is to rent your own car and we can ensure this is arranged before your departure.
When it comes to theme parks, the Walt Disney World Resort set the standard for all those that would follow. The Magic Kingdom, Disney’s first, has now been joined by Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Blizzard Beach, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and the Downtown Disney area.
The Universal Orlando Resort is an amazing complex of wild rides and superb attractions. Comprised of Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure along with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, featuring the with iconic Hogwarts castle and Hogwarts Express!
At SeaWorld Orlando, the animals are the main attraction, along with educational exhibits, shows and edge-of-your-seat thrill rides. Aquatica by SeaWorld is a huge waterpark with slides, tranquil pools, beaches and rapid rivers too. At Discovery Cove, a reservation only park, guests get to swim with dolphins, play with stingrays and come face to face with sharks.
There’s more fun to be had at Wet ‘n’ Wild waterpark; Gatorland or Legoland Orlando which is in Winter Haven about 45 minutes away. In the heart of International Drive is the newly opened Orlando Eye, a 400-foot tall observation wheel offering breath-taking views of downtown Orlando’s skyline, theme parks, lakes and, on a clear day, views of Cape Canaveral on the east coast.
Aside from theme parks, Orlando is home to eight major shopping malls which include the Florida Mall, the Orlando Premium outlets, Vineland Road and Premium Outlets International Drive. With all these great attractions, and much more besides, Orlando promises fun for all the family.
