We had a lovely relaxing holiday and thank you for finding it for us
The holiday was truly lovely. The hotel was great - nothing to complain about there, beautiful grounds, 2 swimming pools and on the beach. Plenty of sun loungers, beach towels supplied & changeable every day. The beach is nice but neoprene shoes advised in the shallows due to sharp rocks etc. Cool drinking water supplied but also waiter service from the bar/restaurant available to your sun lounger (very decadent!)
The room was really spacious with a sea view & huge bathroom - a complementary fresh fruit basket & bottle of champagne on our arrival. Room was really clean, good maid service with 'housekeeping' in the evenings.
There are a few small shops within the hotel but very expensive - no supermarkets in the vicinity to get tonic for the obligatory 2 litres of duty free gin...…
Food was generally good in the main restaurant. We tried a couple of the other restaurants on site which were quite similar.
We hired a taxi for the day through the concierge. We had a lovely driver who was very informative about the island - worked out about £70. We did a tour of the south of the island taking in the Bois Cheri tea plantation, giant tortoise & crocodile park, Hindu temple, the coloured sands, the Alexandra Waterfalls and (best of all) the Chamarel rum factory (so drunk). It was a lovely way to see some of the island although as an animal lover, I found the giant tortoise park a bit upsetting. They have lots of different animals in there in very small areas - they are doing some good conservation/breeding programmes but are badly in need of expanding their facilities. It was sad to see monkeys behind an electric fence but we did see some in the wild later who were more than happy to take bananas off us!
All in all, we had a lovely relaxing holiday and thank you for finding it for us. I've been recommending your services to friends & colleagues. Thinking about the Maldives for next year but will get Xmas & NY out the way first!
